Does anyone know if the high-speed pulldown concept has been applied to motion picture cameras? I.e. what is the widest shutter opening that has been attempted? Both the Panavision R-200, all Panaflex models and some Mitchells,and many Arriflex cameras have high speed pulldown movements. These camera movements are hand built and fitted to the limits of precision, and are based on cams working levers. Many of these movements are actually small works of art. Most people are not aware that Simplex built the "Fox" noiseless studio cameras in the 30's and 40's. These were noisless studio capable cameras that did not require a blimp to soundproof them. Also, almost all 16mm claw type projectors have 5 to 1 pull down.  |  IP: Logged
