Posts: 12814 From: Annapolis, MD Registered: Dec 1999 posted 10-16-1999 08:53 PM                     My personal feeling (and one that I have always practiced in my 20 years of showing films) is on breakdown, the film should be restored to its original condition...no lost frames and the heads/tails fully reattached so the print is runnable...and just like those bygone paper bands used to say "Do not rewind. Standard Print Makeup" so I ship tails out (emulsion-in) and if in a changeover booth, I take-up right on the shipping reel so it gets a nice smooth wind. The next projectionist gets a print ready to inspect and load onto whatever apparatice they have. I stand by splicing the heads/tails back on with tape on both sides...it leaves the film in a runable state. Some one tried to make a reel band out of masking tape. I mean they started at the film end and went around the entire reel. I only encountered once.
