Ok, how does seeing a flash of "Lemon Ruski" help their sales...since I don't even know what that is? Besides, that kind of nonsense advertising is going to end up either angering the customers, cause the film to break at having two splices that close together, degrade the quality of the presentation (since it will look like a mistake) or all of the above.

These cheezy slide shows are patheticly bad in my opinion anyway. There is no need for trying to trick the customers into purchasing products through what I would assume could be called subliminal advertising.

If I ever do find a can of this "Lemon Ruski" I will make certain I never buy one. This holds true to every ad I see in front of a movie at a commercial theater, with the exception of items sold at the theater (aka "Coke").

I used to think that advertisements were 'okay' (just 'okay') on movies, now it's just getting out of hand!

....NCN Header...AMEX BLUE...BUDDY LEE... COKE... On by this date...Off by that date... OK on W.B. movies....NOT on B.V. movies.... Lights-up...Lights down...

I'm sick of it. And MOST of the ads are STUPID!!! Frankly, If I had my 'druthers', I'd say that there can be only ONE ad before a movie (And it had better have a 'movie' theme!)

The only ads that I ever 'liked' were the Coca Cola ones. (Except for the ones with Brian Reagan!) My all time 'faves' are the "Shadow Puppets" ones and the "Shmoo" one.

That's why I USED to like the advertisements.... because the first ones we got were the Coke ads. and they were kinda' cool.

You don't like the Brian Regan ads? Granted the first one was really stupid, but the "Take Luck" one was pretty darned funny (to me, at least). There was a Niki ad that was ok and the Chevy one now is fair. The rest are just plain annoying.

The ones I cannot stand are those up and coming young filmmaker crap ones. Everyone remember the Jeff Yorkes one? It was the one with the goofy Casio keyboard music with the geek who sits between two people and he keeps turning his straw around. Was that not the most pathetic excuse everyone has seen for a "movie"? And why do they insist on calling a 60 second shot (literally, the camera did not move nor cut) as being a "movie"? Please! If I ever play a film and notice the director is Jeff Yorkes, it's gonna go in the smallest house I have! That thing was so bad, I'll never forget his name.

And Jeff, if you ever read this, better change that name before you make a feature.

Sorry, I don't mean to offend, but I think Brian Reagan is "UN-funny"

In by book there are three levels of comedy... 1) Funny 2) Not-Funny 3) UN-funny (If it's UN-Funny, it has to get funnier to be called Not-funny.)

I don't know, I never liked "Bumbling Idiot" comedy. (Steve Martin being the exception)

Anyway, It's a free country... If we all liked the same kind of comedy, then it wouldn't be 'comedy', would it?

The first Coke ad I saw was the "Marry me, Jane" one that looked like a music video.

Honestly, including the Brian Regan ads, I think Coke ads are the best. I think it's because they're more like "info-tainment" than "advertisents".

Does anyone still play the Coke "Snack Canyon" ad from the '70s? Last year, I bought a lab-new print of this trailer from Cinema Concepts in Atlanta. Cost was $35 or so and worth every penny. It's one of my all-time favorite theatre ads.

I also have a "New Kids on the Block" Coke ad that must be from the late '80s or early '90s. The technical quality is godawful (picture transferred from some crappy video format and mono sound), but the whole thing is funny as hell when viewed in context. Our midnight show audiences (esp. Rocky Horror) loved this one. I'd never run it before a non-midnight-show, though...

The coke that I found stupid was Idykygy. The funniest was the old guys shoot out.

"I'm gonna gut you like a rainbow trout."

Walt Disney/Buena Vista Distributing will not allow ads to run with their films. If the other majors would set such standards, the ads would go away. Considering the NCN income you folks describe coming to your multiplexes, the slide shows are worth it. However, some of that revenue should trickle down to projectionist pay checks.

As much as those ads bring in, my guess is that any attempts by the distributers as a whole to ban them would result in a major court battle...
