Every theater circuit has their good theatres and bad theatres. That's just a fact of life. Not only is it based upon the design of the theatre, but the management, personnel, projection staff and equipment.

Most people on this forum bash AMC is the reining champion of bad presentations. This does not mean that there are not excellent AMCs out there. The comment above was simply pointing out a specific bad experience at a theatre. Remember, first impressions are the most important...and if he got a bad show at a Hoyts (even if for the sake of argument that was the only Hoyts to provide anything less than a perfect experience), then Hoyts might have lost him as a customer forever.

Our prints of 007-19 are pretty good except for the SDDS tracks. They are pretty crummy and keep dropping-out. We've had 9,000,000 complaints about it. I just bypass the SDDS but other people keep trying to play it in SDDS.

It's funny to me that MGM/UA suggests that the prints NOT be played in SDDS. (5th out of 7 choices!) It seems to me that MGM/UA is trying to discourage SDDS!

The Hoyts at Fox Studios has had a few teething problems, or so I hear. One friend was on his way to the complex and was confronted by EVERYONE in the complex coming out to the melodic tunes of the fire alarm.

Another said they had several fire alarm interruptions (the shows automatically stop when the alarm triggers) during their movie. Enough to make the film run VERY late. On leaving, they were slogged money for parking by the gate guard bacause they'd been there over the free three hour limit.(!)

The new floor staff were overheard...

#1..."Have you been shown how to thread up yet?"

#2..."Nuh, tomorra"

Maybe this is why an entire feature was screened out of frame recently.
