I was working the concession counter on a slow weeknight in the early 1980s when a local, high school water polo team (the boys' team, unfortunately) decided to go streaking through our lobby. They seemed to appear out of nowhere and before the doorman realized they were approaching, they were already inside. They quickly got through the lobby (where there were no customers at the time) and ran into an auditorium where we were showing ON GOLDEN POND. They made their way up the aisle and out the emergency exit and that was it.If they'd gone to the auditorium next to that one, they would have run through a screening of a movie called MAKING LOVE which, if you don't remember, dealt with homosexual themes and was quite popular at our theatre in Long Beach, California. I suppose it would have made the movie even more popular. When I told people about the incident I was fond of saying "We had to let them in. After all, they were showing their stubs." With apologies for tastelessness (although the story remains true), -Greg

________________________________________ Picture this, the guys are on board the alien space ship tapping into the alien computer system (miraculously enough Windows compatible!!!)_________________________________________Hey Brad, wasn't that an Apple computer? _________________________________________ Apparently each breaker panel covered TWO projectors and the running machine was shut down on accident. _________________________________________ I guess they should have had "someone who knows how to work the projector" there until the show was over, or at least someone who wasn't in such a hurry to get out of there that they flipped that breaker without knowing what it controls!

Another time (at the same place I've previously mentioned,) one of the company's top five VIP's comes to see a film at our theater. At the time, our theater was owned by a large company (500 mil a year) that made stock market display equipment, so this guy was actually pretty important. We all liked this VIP, but we also thought; He's a softy; never been in a fight, had it easy all his life.Anyway, Mr. VIP walks out a little used fire exit, and finds a guy taking a leak. Mr. VIP grabs him and throws him through the exit door and pulls it shut, so "Leaky" can't get back in. He had to humbly walk around to the front to get his coat, and his wife. We all really liked Mr. VIP after that, and respected him, too.

Our theatre has a public access hallway upstairs that we have to walk through in order to get from booth to booth. One night I was walking through and encountered a man who not only appeared very drunk, but was also walking with his knees buckled and was holding himself. Of course, he asked me where the nearest bathroom was. I told him our only bathroom was downstairs in the lobby. He seemed frozen for a moment, so I directed him to the stairway which was only a few feet away. His response was, "Oh man! You don't have one up here?!" My response was, "No, and you better get going!" He seriously looked like he was ready to piss his pants, and after he stumbled to the stairway, I promised myself I wouldn't use those stairs for at least a week, cause you know he probably just let it rip right there!

A few stories about a theatre that I used to work at... Shortly before I started working there they found an employee that was Living behind one of the screens. Turned out they were AWOL from the Navy. Annother interresting thing about the theatre was that it was hunted, experienced by myself as well as the Mgr and several others. Annother time before I worked there, someone was drunk and ended up driving THRU the boxoffice, concession stand, and finally came to a stop at an auditorium enterance. Fortunatly this happened at about 3am and no one was hurt, including the woman who was driving the car. Rumor was she stepped out of the car and said, "don't worry, my daddy will pay for it" and he did... they completey remodled the Boxoffice, brand new concession stand, carpet &lobby decor. annother note at the time the theatre had 2 boxoffices. the demolished one was the main boxoffice, part of the remodel was removing the surviving boxoffice.

One from the drive-in, a couple years ago:Manager had complaint of two men in the restroom stall, doing something together that is better done at home. The manager found the restroom unoccupied, except for one stall, where he saw two pairs of feet, one on top of the other. He rapped on the door and told them they'd better leave, or he was going to call the cops on them. He then waited outside the restroom for the pair to emerge, and was shocked to discover it was two GIRLS; each about 12!

Legend has it that when the Peterborough Drive-In was built,, circa 1949, the feild sound wires were laid in tracks created by an 18-wheeler delivering supplies, on a wet day. Apparently, the driver received 20 bucks and a mickey for his efforts. When, as projectionist, I took over responsiblity for this wiring, I found it it in pretty bad shape, much of it exposed above ground. Short-term repairs over former years had largley consisted of jumping ramps with extention-cord wire, rather than digging up the field and finding the short or open. Over the course of the first year I was there, I began to correct this situation, repairing connections and removing a lot of these jumpers some of which, were anyone's guess as to where they terminated. One summer night, I had just changed-over onto Reel 2. Heading for the rewind room with Reel 1, I was suprised to see a guy at the door. He was dressed in coveralls and black rubber boots, and was dangling a speaker in front of me. Strangely, it was not one of our current speakers, but one of the old rectangular Devrys that had been replaced a few years back. "Speaker don't work" he said. "O.K.", I said "but you didn't have to take it off." Grabbing a new speaker, flashlight, and tool belt, I glanced at the upper magazine to see how much time I had and asked "Where you parked?" He looked at me for a second "Parked?" he said, then shrugged "Up there.", pointing to one of the farms on a hill behind the Drive-In. I realized what that jumper I removed had done. "Here," I said, handing him a new speaker. He nodded and headed back up to his farm-house in the rapidly fading light. Meanwhile, I beat it over to the post and re-connected the mysterious line. Turned out, during the first year of operation, these people used to complain about the noise late at night -until we ran a line and gave them a speaker on their front porch (facing the screen). I kept that old Devry for a feild monitor. Had better sound than our new ones.

Weird stuff , ok I have a few This guy (homeless I think) ran into one of our cinemas danced on the stage and then started to strip and he just ran out again. A patron came out and notified us. Creepy
I've see many sex acts in cinemas even teenagers in G rated movies going for gold if you know what I mean. There is a time and a place for stuff like that. I can't stand people vomiting in cinemas or parents leaving their babies dirty nappy under the seat. YUCK. About a year ago a girl ( teenager ) pass out in one of our cinemas. She OD on Vanilla Essence. The ambulance took here to the local hospital. I would like to be a fly on the wall to hear what here parents said to her. HEHEHEH. A few years ago one of the ushers found a man dead sitting on a toilet. He was checking the toilets at the end of the night. He was there for a few hours and when the ambulance came to pick him up they couldn't lay him flat, he was stiff. I can't remember what he died of. A lot of the staff reckon they have seen ghosts in our cinemas and our bio boxes. I never believe them as I never seen any before. Oh well. Cya
