It is true about the Norelco AA-II: "They don't believe me when I tell them that they are some of the best projectors ever made and that there are a LOT of them still running film every day, as if they were brand new." Thin is, they're not THAT dirtty! Anybody with a couple of afternoon's time could go in and shine 'em up real nice. I did that once last year.The only thing that does need work are the lamphouses and some of the sprockets are worn. I just flipped over all the ones that were worn. (The botton HB sprockets, mostly) Virtually everything that's "wrong" with them is beasuse they are sitting idle for so long! Honestly, they do look like Iron Beasts the first time you see them! The only thing I'd ever seen before them was a Century and a Simlplex. I first walked into the booth and said, "Oh, my God!"
There was nobody else who could run them, so I had to learn from the ground up. I said to the person who was "hiring" me (It was volunteer work), "You won't be mad at me if I can't make them work, will you?" It took about a month to get up to speed, reading books and studying manuals but they aren't THAT hard! Whan you get right down to it, a projector's a projector.
