We ran Flying High for two weeks when it first came out in 1980. Not once...no, not once, was there ever a patron left by the time that scene came up at the end of the credits. This was very sad...So when a print came in and that piece had been moved so successfully and the audience was still there to see it (which, I'm sure was the reason it was filmed in the first place) that made the patrons leave with an extra gag in their memory and for me, that made it worth doing again when we next ran a print of it. I will also say that this is the _only_ film I have ever done this to and if it came out today...I probably wouldn't bother, but at that time in my life I thought the final benefit worth the effort. No credits were lost...they were all still there...but the majority of patrons who had paid to see something funny got a little bit more. ...and if the Zucker brothers are planning a re-issue for its 20th anniversary this year...I hope they make this change themselves on the new prints.

"Married to the mob": Matthew Modine and Michelle Pfeiffer dance during the last end credits, after some great outtakes, until the final line of text (something in Italian; can't remember what) when they trip over and the picture freezes."Angel Heart": The end credits are intercut with the elevator descending (to Hell?). when the final credit disappears, there is a final cut to the elevator, which stops. A few heartbeats follow in the soundtrack. I love that ending; it's absolutely perfect for the film. And, of course, The Phantom Menace (bad film, great ending of end credits): Darth Vader's heavy breathing is heard after the TAP/THX notice. Don't you just hate all those TV channels that cut end credits after the first few lines? (At least, we have quite a few that do that; I don't know about the US and Canada...)
