Ditto Gordon. I have never been all that impressed with BGW's amps and have taken many deceased ones out of racks, it not being worth repairing them. QSCs on the other hand can fall down a flight of stairs and keep running. This is why I do not wear a BGW shirt.

If money was no object, I'd design the theater with two projection booths. One with a regular 35/70 set up (equipped to run nitrate).

The other would be for special stuff like a VistaVision, Grandeur(sp?). It would be designed to allow equipment (mostly projectors, probably) to be moved and replaced easily.

Out of the hundreds of both BGW and QSC amps that I have put in I have had practically no trouble at all with either. Hence I wear a t-shirt that has both logos on it. Plus they build the best subwoofer in the industry to boot Both companies build fine products and both have kept chugging right along for me.

Gord, I don't think any piece of electronics lasts very long up in Canada...remember you have Canadian Hydro supplying your power up there........Most people that I know in Canada have more than the usual problems with electronic stuff for what ever reason. I know thats what Keith S. always blames things dying on

Brad, If you let a GTA fall down a stairs there would be little left of the stairs! I once had an old BGW 500 that was damaged by Fed-EX. Ripped the power transformer right out of the bottom of the chassis. Still worked fine for the duration of dailies on "Philadelphia" though after I put it back in place.

I would have to say that the BGW/QSC failures are at about 10:1 for me (BGW failing more)

Another big plus for QSC is that they seem to be just about the only amplifier manufacturer that has figured out that the proper way to cool an amplifier (or any rack mount equipment) is to blow from rear to front (watch the comments on that one). I have BGWs that have failed from being choked on their own filth. At least they don't draw air in on the front (at least the ones I have used).

I'll be sticking with QSC amplifiers.
