At one time when I moved my machine in parts, I took the opportunity to measure the parts, one by one, on my wifes' weight in our bathroom. It survived and that's the figures on the web site.

I'm now considering adding wheels to my DP70. It will make it easier to move it around between my furniture (Yes I am mad, but happy!=)

Dick, what's the SN on your new machine?

Last year when I moved the equipment out of an old drive-in, I had no idea how much an Ashcraft rectifier would weigh. I found out rather quickly. If it wasn't for a Ryder Truck with a hydraulic lift gate, they'd both still be sitting there.

Be sure to remove the mag reader stabilizers (fly wheels) before you move it. There's a danger of bending the shafts that hold them as they are not supported on the outboard side. You can also remove the optical sound head and it's heavy stabilizer (fly wheel). That will save you a number of pounds. And of course the motor assembly

You might be able to bring the weight of the AA2 projector head down. Removing the entire mag assembly and lens rack would reduce the weight from "unbelievable" to a mere "backbreaking."

I find the real challange is getting stuff down the narrow, twisting stairs usually found in projection rooms. Having plenty of hands doesn't help; there's no room for everyone. It's no surprise to learn that usually the stuff was hoisted in with a crane before the building was finished.

I know someone who got two GK-37s up three flights of stairs by lashing them (head, lamphouse and pedestal separately) to the chairlift provided for disabled customers. It worked - impressive, given that these objects must have been several times heavier than the weight that chairlift was designed to carry.

I did the very same trick with an Erneman 15, Rectifier and sound rack. Worked a treat, but not quite as heavy as GK's.

Ben - if anyone knows how heavy a DP70 is you should be now - how many have you meved in the last week ? (ws it three or four ?!). Hope you've got plenty of brillo pads !

Peter-last count it was 4 DP70's and a almost ton of bits of cinema junk, I don't need Brillo Pads for the first ones, a sandblaster would be better!.

I do have the scares to prove that I have moved DP70's (pictures to follow), but they were not bad to move.

Dick- I do hope to see your new DP70 operational by the next Widescreen Weekend or I have to collect that one as well
