Author Topic: Cinemark, SR-D, and Subwoofers Karen Hultgren Master Film Handler Posts: 492 From: Agoura Hills, CA, USA Registered: Mar 2000 posted 04-11-2002 11:43 AM                        To claify DTS subwoofer in the surrounds: In the standard 5.1 mode, the DTS surrounds carry some subwoofer material, all above 80Hz. There are filters in the surrounds that only let signals from 80Hz and above pass. The subwoofer material, from 80Hz down to 20Hz, is routed to a separate output channel on the DTS player. The surrounds can't go that low (by design). When I saw "The Rookie" there yesterday, in a DTS house, it had some of that really deep, low-freq. bass, the kind that none of their SR-D houses seem to ever have.  |  IP: Logged Antonio Marcheselli Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1260 From: Florence, Italy Registered: Mar 2000 posted 04-12-2002 02:40 PM                        Correct me if I'm wrong: since DTS Subwoofer level is separate from Dolby Digital Subwoofer level, I believe that you can set a sound system with poor DD subwoofer and great DTS subwoofer and Viceversa. Isn't that special. This person also says all speakers are JBL throughout; there are 4 [apparently virgin] subwoofers in each house; the Dolby houses all have CP500 processors; and QSC amps are used throughout.  |  IP: Logged Neil Hunter Film Handler Posts: 74 From: Salisbury, NC, USA Registered: Oct 2001 posted 04-15-2002 12:20 AM                     David, Cinemark uses all QSC amps and JBL speakers for their newer theaters(98 and up, I believe).
