Gee Mike,

Apparently Regal isn't above making factual errors either. I'd love to know where those extra 8 screens are at the UA Stonestown Twin in San Francisco. The page also doesn't point out that UA has been running the Galaxy 4 plex as a quasi arthouse in SF for the past 9 months.

i've been "forced" to see a few films at the ua galaxy lately, since they became an
"arthouse". 2 lousy presentations and one good one (assuming they weren't
responsible for the print damage on that one; the print had probably played around
a while already). christmas eve i saw soderbergh's solaris there. they played flat
trailers through the scope lens and said they didn't care as the feature would be
fine (i wasn't sure at first if the feature was flat or scope as the sides were
cropped). this was a tuesday. they'd had 5 days to get it right. and the darker
scenes were besmirched by a swath of unwelcome booth light. always nice to see.

i suppose this rightly belongs in the "outing bad theaters" thread.

It just really bugs me when ANY part of the media attempts to do these movie theatre reviews. While I think it's somewhat interesting to read what somebody from outside the industry thinks about their trips to the movies, I think it's annoying as hell that they don't follow up or do much research other than going to the movies and reporting what they see.

Blargh -- I'm too frustrated to criticize every point in that article... but just ONCE I'd like to see a movie theatre review piece that doesn't damn a theatre to the fiery pits of hell just because they had a dirty condiment counter... or mushy popcorn. These are all things that aren't STANDARD - there are good days and bad days and journalists don't always take that into consideration.

I'm gonna go rant to myself now...
