The details in the article sound totally made up to me but the essence of the story rings true in some ways:

1. A lot of movie theatres aren't showing films properly.
2. Customers feel they can do a better job at home.

I don't know too many people who really think that DVD offers a better picture than 35mm film. They know that a lot of resolution gets lost and they appreciate the size of a real movie theatre screen versus what they have at home.

However, these people have a genuine complaint. Namely, that a lot of movie theatres today aren't living up to the potential of 35mm format.
