The motor is DC and will run forward and reverse at any speed. The projector was used to review film of the X-15 and other early supersonic aircraft. I think he was mainly talking about the Eprad Swords. In fact at that time (early seventies) I believe using a Century projector with a Sword voided the warranty. Again, here, running in reverse would would result in the oil being taken off of the star shaft and possibly seizing up. The rest of the mechanism is no problem to run in reverse. Fitting oilite bushings would allow one to run it reverse with no detrimental affect to the mechanism.
