You would get increased color saturation. But compared to the normally used continuous-spectrum xenon or carbon arc sources, they would have a different color rendering, which would be undesireable, unless every projector used a similar light source. Thanks John. Very interesting reading.

Here's an interesting PerkinElmer link which explains a bit about the spectrum of xenon light. It wasn't written for projection lamps, but I assume the "continuous wave xenon" referred to is essentially the technology at work here. Figure 4 compares CW xenon to the solar spectrum, and it appears pretty close except for some narrow peaks in the larger wavelengths. PerkinElmer article
