John Hawkinson Film God Posts: 2273 From: Cambridge, MA, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 07-29-2003 10:09 AM                     The issue here is that .gz files are created with the gzip compression utility, which is a standard Unix tool. It uses the same algorithm as .ZIP (PKZIP, etc.) files, but a slightly different file-format. Most, but not all, ZIP software knows how to handle both kind of files. Evidently some people are seeing that corner-case. As a Unix person, of course I chose the gzip format instead of the ZIP format. But I suppose next time I do this, I'll have more sympathy for the Windows users and just use a .ZIP file. But what seems to be the problem is that the browsers are trying to download it as 77 megs when the file is only 46 megs. If it does that then it doesn't matter what kind of zip utility you have, as the browsers are seeing it wrong (probably have the MIME types for gzip unset). Micael, this is a DTS that enables your DTS machines to print legal tender for the projectionist every time you play movie.  |  IP: Logged Daryl C. W. Knowing that Brad loves Windows and all the lovely Windows software you can buy, I never bothered to configure the http server for non-mainstream windows file types. I then opened Nero (disc burner), told it I wanted to burn a CD-ROM, and clicked on new. I then clicked on file, then open. Then directed it to the directory on my hard drive where I had saved DS3.iso. I had to type DS3.iso into the window for it to open (it did not just give me this option). It then let me burn a DTS DS3 disc. It works fine. Thank you to all who made this possible. There is a PDF file on the disc that will tell you about what's on it.  |  IP: Logged
