Newmarket Films is handling those 2 titles in the US. But does anyone else think the title of this film is a little odd, smacking of bad grammar? I thought the word "Christ" was a personal pronoun. Why put "the" in front to turn the name into a object-based noun? On top of that, the phrasing "The Passion of the Christ" is making me try to remember some goofy phrase I heard on South Park or even in the LOTR movies. To hear Gollum say blah of the Smeagol would make more sense. Anyway, Icon should have just left the title simply as "The Passion". I remember Ben-Hur was subtitled "A Tale of the Christ," and, Jesus is referred to often as "Jesus the Christ." Recently I our print of Calendar Girls came with no trailer information. So I decided to be clever and since most of the people in our small mid-western town are fairly religous I put both Passion and the Gospel of John on it.
