I've always been confused by this as well...Mr. 3000 was tagged as a BVD movie on our bookings (I know it's touchstone), but when they came to check and there were no ads in front of the movie....we got yelled at....they said it's only DISNEY movies....I thought BVD was short for Buena Vista DISNEY. Now Disney's Animation dept is gone, what constitutes a "DISNEY" movie?

All 'Disney' films, be they Touchstone, Hollywood Pictures, whatever, are distributed by 'Beauna Vista.'

Yes, this is overly complicated. Unfortunately that's just the way it is.

BVD = Buena Vista Distributions.

The movie is Walt Disney there is a logo at the beginning and end of the movie.

Cinemark Policy is there are no Technicolor ads to be placed on Disney banner films. However, Coke avertisements and any company related materials go on the films.

If it isn't tagged as being from Walt Disney Pictures, it's not a Dinsey product. Simple.

I saw National Treasure at an AMC and the only thing part of the "NCN Preshow Countdown" was AMC's Movietickets.Com commercial. Nothing else...

I was also wondering something about AMC's cell phone commercial with the buffalo stampeeding. At the end of the tag, it says "Best Buy/Cingular/Nokia" or whatever. To me, this would count as an ad...

From the trailers I thought "Treasure" was Touchstone. Seeing the movie, it's Disney. Marcus policy is NO pre-show rolling stock ads on ANY Disney film. If it is just BV, then is okay BUT 15 seconds of black film must be run between the pre-show and the trailers which are run prior to the schedule start time. This separates our pre-show ads and movie with trailers.

from imdb:

quote:
Trivia: Before the movie got its rating, it was under the Touchstone Pictures banner (which is part of Disney). When the film got its rating (which is PG), it was then put under the Walt Disney Pictures banner, as it is clear that it is a more family-friendly movie.

At a local Regal Megaplex, Regal's 20wenty was shown with tons of commercials before National Treasure. The Walt Disney Kingdom logo appeared at the beginning of the movie.

thus override BV by putting coke ads on their movies.
NOTHING overrides an edict from the Mouse House....unless you want to get slapped so hard with that wad of lawsuit papers that you'll never be able to focus a picture again. [Big Grin]
