Several comments.
ETS. ETS set up a 24x7 customer service number when Sony moved from TES to ETS. 800-734-3969. I haven't had much occasion to use it; it was originally for Sony only, I don't know if that is still the case.
Technicolor: Fundamentally, TES's delivery model of airplane-based just-in-time deliveries is much more vulnerable to weather issues (esp. on a national scale) than ETS's. So TES has to put in extra effort for the same results in these situations. I would have expected TES to have been on the ball when the weather started to act up and contacted theatres in advance about the issues. If they did not, and a theatre found out at the last minute, then they should have to answer for that.
delivery windows Jason Black wrote: "Neither would this have happened if our own damn booking department had the balls to stand up and request earlier delivery windows.. say, Wed. delivery.." I'm sure that many of you know this, but while the delivery day is a studio policy issue (and thus really really hard to change), the time of delivery is between Technicolor and DHL. So if you don't like the time of day of the delivery windows, TES should be able to change that for you upon request.
circuitting prints Mike Spaeth said, "I called Technicolor to find out if I can just pick up one of the multiple prints coming off of screen here in Atlanta (2nd and 3rd prints) for Saturday openings ... answer = "no" - they can't authorize that without studio approval.
As I understand it, "can't without studio approval" shouldn't be a big deal. Maybe it breaks down on Christmas Day, but TES should be able to call the studio rep and get approval for this kind of thing and get an answer and get back to you within a few minutes, just like with replacement reels. I guess if the studio contact doesn't answer their cell phone/pager/whatever on Christmas Day, then you're stuck. But under normal circumstances, "studio approval" should not be a real impediment.
