The info provided here is excellent. As far as booking goes, I'd be glad to talk to you but not post all the secrets here where even distributors can see. I am overwhelmed with the great information and practices to make a dollar and keep the doors open!!!!!!! THANKS a million for all the advise guys,a lot of it,I had ideas on but it makes my decisions a lot more solid if I have people that back the methods up. I am glad the guy in Teluride,CO. got some good advice too. I'm sure I do not speak for myself, when I say that no one wants to see these old landmark theatres closing up like they have been for 20 years. My theatre has been a pillar in my small community for 75 yrs. since Sam Walton was just selling lemonade.These theatres like mine have a special place in peoples hearts, many older people in the community have a story to tell that is vivid in their memories,but won't support the theatre to keep it open. case in point: an older gentleman born and raised less than a mile from my theatre told me of seeing some big cowboy actor there in the early 50's,told me every move the guy made and how the house was packed with kids and how he was there every saturday, then this guy told me that he would not pay to go to the movies when he can watch TV. But he can't stand to see it closed. that pisses me off!!!!!!!!!! I am involved with the downtown area and the chamber of commerce,and all the town leaders and supporters cannot wait for it to reopen.On the other hand I am afraid I will not recieve the steady support that I need from the people. I am going to try several things to keep their patronage,and if anything out of the ordinary works,I will be more than happy to share information. Thanks to all of you who have offered private support out of the public eye. I will be in contact with all of you (probably until you block me as a sender) . And to Scott on the previous post.... you will be happy to know that the name of the theatre is the Scott, named after the county. It was bought by K. Lee Williams theatres in 1938 and renamed from The Pines to The Scott, he named all of his Theatres for the county in which they were. I found about 15 old postcards with pics on the front from about 1945 stuffed away in a cubbyhole,I will email you a copy of one and more info. Again thanks for the info and please keep any ideas coming ...I love this forum. and lastly; and has anyone ever heard of that film cleaner stuff they call filmguard? I have heard a few mention it on here. anyone know where I could come up with some and is it worth a shit ???????????????????????????????????????????????
