Good Specs for the 1.6k, which do fit in the Lume-X..but stay away from LTI's .. the Helios are great, but the standard LTi's aint worth poop!

Danged things start to flicker like mad after only a 1000 hrs..

Save your money and get Christies..

Sean; always go with the slightly larger for the reasons you mention. In my post above, I feel that a large screen/short throw combination will yield a picture that LOOKS hot spotted, but isn't really. You can ill afford to then also add real hot spotting to the equasion. Louis

The XBO 1600 W can also be used in a pinch since the dimensions are exactly the same as a XBO2000W/H

Note that the anode support for the Super Lume-X is different for 2k-and-up and 1600-and-down size bulbs. Everything works fine if the wrong part is used, but the bulb cannot be focused properly.

Never can figure out of the bulb design for the XBO-1600HSC - short with those large ends..

service a twin at one time that had both - the standard XBO1600 in one Lume-X and has a HSC in the other Lume-X .. just caught me kinda odd...

Actually, the Super Lume-X uses the same anaode support for all lamps...just set at different heights and rotated one way or the other. The cathode support is different for the 2500 watt lamp only.

Note, the 1600WHS is a very popular lamp. From Osram, it is XB01600WHS, from Christie, it is the CXL16S, from ASL it is the XM1600HS.

The "S" version of the 1600W lamp is an efficient lamp. As to which lamp to use (bigger/smaller)...you first have to have enough light, period. So if the numbers say 1700-watts, move to the 2KW lamp. If 1597-watts are needed, you have to make a choice...I would probably go with the 2KW lamp on that one too since the light will diminish with time, the 2KW lamp has a huge current range and the 2KW lamp generally has the best life.

But if 1400-watts are all that are needed...I'd go with the 1600-watt lamp. With smaller lamps you get less heat, which mean less focus issues and and so forth. Never just go "one-over" to defocus the lamp. You really won't get as good an image with a lamp really defocused (they don't call it focus for nothing). A properly sized lamp that is properly aligned and focused, will look best every time.

Greetings Andre; Others:

I am curious. The difference in "throw" between the two auds is only 6 feet (35 feet vs 41 feet). Why such a drastic difference in screen size?

I'm just going to assume I'm Andre and reply.

I messed up on that.

Cinema 1=
Seats 104 plus two wheelchairs
Room L40'xW38'
Screen (maxed in scope) W35'xH14'11"
Throw 37'
Xenon 3kw

Cinema 2=
Seats 59 plus two wheelchairs
Room L36'xW28'
Screen (maxed in scope) W25'xH10'8"
Throw 33'
Xenon 2kw

I did some addition wrong, but basically it allows for 4' of legroom back-to-back, 5' in front of the screen from the first row, and 8' in the back, where you enter. I'm going to tweak those a but; what do you all think is good?

Yeah so after I posted that I realized 1600w as of course a common size lamp I just wasnt thinking (long day). I think you all got my point though, Steve put it better than I did. Thank you Steve.
