Cinemas speakers are much more effecient than home speakers 99 db at one metre with one watt, compared to average 85 db per watt @1meter@1watt, so dont be surprised if your amps never go anyware near there potential, more likely will peak in the 10's of watts while the cinema shakes. As for the theory Steve Guttag would be able to explain it far better than me. [ 12-22-2006, 04:35 AM: Message edited by: Cameron Glendinning ]  |  IP: Logged Gordon McLeod Film God Posts: 9532 From: Toronto Ontario Canada Registered: Jun 99 posted 12-21-2006 07:37 PM                     The formula for calculating power to reach a desired SPL is available in several places and is simple enough The issue will evolve more in room aborsption and placement and that is where a good designer/engineer is worth their cost nothing is free and too often people asume that this "homework" that some of us take the time to do is of little value and easily replaceable investing in acoustic simulation software like ease or lara or acousti-cad is not a small item and its return must be found in system design and follow up sales I am sure that steve and others here like myself have made that investment and it does have a need of return  |  IP: Logged
