I've learn more by reading the threads on film-tech than any manual or reference guide! It is very interesting to here about the shifts and opinions on topics such as digital cameras, large format etc and most importantly from the people who have to work with the medium and equipment for a living.

Mister Iben, sorry that I have been rude to you (?) but it became appearent to me that you throw out one question after the other without posting again on the same topic you started yourself. It's like "Here you have a question, answer it and I see you back for the next one". Strange.
I know very well by own experience how helpfull (and on occasion harsh) the people on this forum can be.

Hmmmmmmmmm, I thought thats what this site was for.....asking questions. I did'nt know that you needed to respond a certain number of times yourself. Give it a rest already. He just wants to learn. I have no problem with it one bit. BTW, yes you were rude. [Big Grin]

There was a term that I heard used in reference to an unwanted effect of the anamorphic process that cinematographers were critical of in the early days; they called it circles of confusion. Anyone know exactly what that refers to? Oval circles around lights? Does this have any relationship to it:

And as for the origins of the word,

as in George Forman anamorphisizing Joe Frazer to win back the Heavyweight Championship. [Smile]

And to add to our understanding of the word derivations, you can see that when 20th Century Fox grabbed the anamorphic process catipulting it ahead of the other studios to become Top Dog, King of the Hill, Big Cheese, Head Honcho, etc., with CinemaScope ruling the motion picture world, how appropriate Henrie Chretien's name really was -- Hypergonar meaning Large Gonads. [Big Grin]
