I believe Gordon was one of them and if you call that not neat!!! then you have no idea what neat is. If someone remembers that post I believe it would be wise to link it in this forum. It is sad that you pinpoint a whole society just because you see some pictures. An Italian teacher last week cut of a little students' tongue because to stop him from talking. (I heard this on the radio news) Does that mean that Italians are cannibals!? I doubt it. I believe it is wrong to state that Americans are "crass idiots". Brad on the other hand is another matter. Whatever you believe of him is your own opinion and if you don't like what you see here, then stop coming here. Or are you simply brainwashed by the "American Stupidity" (as you imply in your post) my friend and you yourself most probably urge for keeping yourself "noticed by others" and because there is no better way to do it you simply accuse someone. Jealousy is a wicked thing and it should be avoided especially in Film-Tech where we want to improve the film world in our own way. If you think that people here supporting Brad are simply kissing his ass then you are a total retard. Why don't you post some inuative ideas that would help other installers have a look at something new? Lets see how good YOU are. Lets make You God's gift to cinema projection if that is your problem. And listen. I am not even from US. I am from a tiny small island called Cyprus. Oh My God! I've become American Addicted. In the good ol' days, Richardson and Cameron suggested booth layouts in their writings but they were only suggestions and not rules. Also, I always believe that if one is dissatisfied with the way things are done, it is better to offer solutions rather than complaints. Its also fair to say that we have some first class techs too! with some fine installs under there belts aswell. I will search my photos and posts a couple here so you can see what I mean. One thing I love doing on racks is prewire everything and also the Speaker Outputs from the Amps I terminate them on block connectors so the only thing you have to do on the installation is simply terminate your speakers on the block connectors leaving all the other cabling neat and tidy. The list goes something like this: Larnaca - K - Cineplex = 6 Screens with Christie Pack Equipment constructed in 2001. CP 650D in all Screens and DTS in 4. Larnaca also had wonderful single and dual screens which got victims to the Cineplex and thus closed down. Attikon cinema had 2 Victoria 5 projectors (probably the best cinema in the island with the best architecture) provided a trully 360 degree surround sound in this amazing 500 seater and was from the old days and stayed allive until 2002. Sound included CP65 with 25 balcony and ground floor surrounds and DTS. Othellos cinemas had Prevost P55 and Cinemecanica V8 projectors which went under a lot of renovation both for the interior of the cinema and the projectors, sound equipment (Othellos cinemas were the first between Greece and Cyprus to feature EX system when Phantom Menace was release, I never can forget the overnights we had to run to fit the systems 3 days prior the films' release to the three main towns Othellos cinemas) Finally Cine City Larnaca was a newly build twin in 1998 which featured a Victoria 5 new projector and a Victoria 4, KCS speaker packages and Dolby CP500D in main screen and Smart Mod VI in small screen. Business was going excellent to all three single, dual cinemas until 2001 when Cineplex openened in Larnaca. Everyone was closed down. Nicosia - K - Cineplex = 6 Screens with Christie pack equipment constructed in 2002. CP650D in all screens. Pantheon Art Cinema = 3 screener which converter to a single art theater. Tri-amp system Dolby CP500D and Victoria 5 projector. This system sound amazing. Zena Palace = Single screen cinema with Victoria 8 Projector and Victoria 6 running as a change over. One of the largest screens in the island. Sound includes CP 65 and DTS ES system. It sound excellent. Recently renovated with a classic look to attrack the movie going lovers instead of the problematic teenagers. Cine Studio = Single screen cinema in Intercollege Nicosia which mainly show European Cinema. Includes a single Victoria 5 projector (finished construction in 1998) and last summer went on a major renovation as we installed DTS XD10P processor with 12 JBL surrounds and screen and subwoofer speakers. We are getting excelent comments as to the quality of improvement on the sound of the theater. BACP reverse scan reader plays a major part in it he he he. Odly enough I went on Sunday to watch VOLVER. The cinema was packed and the best thing about it is that it only attracts cinema lovers. It sounded great in analog and I personally was amazed at the clarity of the sound and the way the surrounds and subwoofer where there exactly when they had to be and not overpowering or being too aggressive. Nicosia also had Opera 1 and 2 cinemas which featured Victoria 8 and Victoria 10 projectors. These projectors have now been stored as the cinema closed down due to the Cineplex. That is also the reason why Pantheon downconverted from a 3 screener to a single. Othellos cinemas 1 and 2 closed down due to Cineplex. These included Prevost P55 projectors with CP65 processors. (Othellos cinemas were the first between Greece and Cyprus to feature EX system when Phantom Menace was released) Limassol - K - Cineplex = 5 Screens the first complex in Cyprus build in 1998 with the Christie pack. CP 45 with DTS in all 5 screens. Othellos 1 & 2= Prevost P55 projectors. CP500D in Screen 1 and Smart MOD VI in Screen 2. (Othellos cinemas were the first between Greece and Cyprus to feature EX system when Phantom Menace was release) Rio Cinemas = 4 Screens with state of the art equipment. Finished construction in in 2001 featuring 2 main screens, 1 Gold Class screen and 1 open air screen. the 2 main screens and the Gold class incorporate Kinoton FP30E projectors which proved excellent. Harkness Hall screens and screen constructions all with movable masking. Dolby CP650D in them and bi-amped systems with Smart TCX crossovers. This theater has now the best presentation in sound and image throughout the country. The open air cinema is something to be jealous about. Dolby CP500 with Victoria X projector in Dolby Surround configuration. (Rio is owned by the same person who owns Othellos cinemas. Spared no expenses when we suggested a state of the art solution for his new cinemas. He did not want though EX system as not many films where released in that format). Limassol also had Pallas and Hollywood cinemas which closed down when Cineplex openened in 1998. Rio brought a dramatic impact when it opened in 2001 in the centre of Limassol. Paphos - Orasis 1 & 2 = Victoria 5 projector in screen 1 and Victoria 6 in screen 2. CP 65 in screen 1 and Home theater A/V amp in Screen 2 combined with JBL concert series provided a quite pleasing enviroment in the small 90 seater in screen 2. Othellos = Victoria 5 projector with CP45. Have in mind that also several village cinemas are struggling to survive although all went over major expenses especially in sound and seating upgrades. In 2006 we finished constructing a multivenue cinema in a small village which included Victoria 5 projector (used from Cine City in Larnaca) and all the Dolby Digital and KCS equipment from Cine City in Larnaca. A village cinema a lot of peope are envy about it . This is about it for the Cyprus cinema industry in the Southern Cyprus. As far as the Nothern is I can not provide any information. A new 5 screener is soon to open in the biggest shopping mall ever constructed in Cyprus. We hope to offer our services to it.
