As I said before we remove ours wherever they are. We don't have a problem with splice 'jumps as our projectors and slpicers are set up properly. Staff are also trained how to make a 'good' spice. So much so if we forget to mark a real change it is a pain in the arse to break down! I also think a minor 'jump' is preferable fo a green flash (mmm, feel a colection of inuendo's brewing!) Justin  |  IP: Logged Carl Martin Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1424 From: Oakland, CA, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 03-19-2007 02:17 PM                        i take 'em out unless they're on a frameline or just at the extreme of the flat image area and bloopable. i make my splices so the tape edge is nowhere near the center of the image, and if possible in a dark or busy portion of the frame. they are as good as invisible. yes, they can jump slightly, but so can a poorly aligned lab splice!  |  IP: Logged Blaine Young Master Film Handler Posts: 477 From: Kirkland, WA, USA Registered: Sep 2006 posted 03-20-2007 04:38 PM                     I've changed my views on this in the past 10 years. Back when I worked for GCC and we had NO digital audio houses, I would remove every factory splice to prevent the audio 'pop'. Since I now work in an all Dolby Digital location and the audio intrusion point is now moot, I leave factory splices on the frame line in place on a flat film. Anything not on a frame line comes out - and those on a frame line on a scope print also come out. They will always be visable on the screen otherwise.  |  IP: Logged
