Author Topic: Attached / Enclosed Trailer programming Mike Blakesley Film God Posts: 12767 From: Forsyth, Montana Registered: Jun 99 posted 09-21-2007 09:05 PM                        I have in front of me the Paramount "Master License Agreement." It doesn't say anything about a requirement to show trailers, attached or otherwise. It devotes far more paragraphs to money (when to pay, how much to pay, what happens if you don't pay) than it does to the film itself. I think if there is ever a requirement to exhibit an attached trailer, it's in a "rider" that's made a part of the master agreement when the contract is signed.  |  IP: Logged Darryl Spicer Film God Posts: 3250 From: Lexington, KY, USA Registered: Dec 2000 posted 09-21-2007 11:58 PM                    I think a lot of it is an agreement with the studios and the exhibitors. Point being that why would you want to program a movie about Cuban dancers on a Horror/Action movie and not program your other Horror/Action movie of the year. If it states you can't edit the FEATURE it seems you'd be safe removing the attached trailer. If it says you can't edit the PRINT then you're probably required to play it. *shrugs* If I had any control over this at my theatre I'd be more worried about it. As is I just have to do what I'm told.  |  IP: Logged Tim Lewis Film Handler Posts: 12 From: Okatie, SC, US Registered: Dec 2006 posted 09-22-2007 05:51 AM                     i will always play attached stuff just on the off chance that a checker will stop by...Disney showed up at my theatre and checked out Ratatouille (and rewarded us for 'perfect projection',) so it's possible someone could check us out...i'll only remove them out of necessity (i.e., us not getting a film that's advertised, or an attached trailer advertising a film that has come and gone before the film said trailer is attached to leaves.) but i won't attache loose trailers just because the studio requests it...i say if they want it on there so bad, attach it... also, i find it quite amusing when i'll get trailers in the mail (usually on friday)with a note demanding that i put said trailers on a particular film that isn't even from the same studio. ha!  |  IP: Logged Phil Blake Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 558 From: esperance western australia Registered: Nov 2003 posted 09-22-2007 08:47 AM                        In small installations like mine we only run trailers for films we are going to book and for films coming in the near future . That depends on the movie though. Sometimes that far-in-advance trailer is the tool to begin building the early "buzz" on the film. Most of the Harry Potter movies have had trailers way out in front like that...I'm wouldn't be surprised to see an advance Potter 6 trailer with some Christmas blockbuster this year.  |  IP: Logged
