James Westbrook Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1133 From: Lubbock, Texas, Usa Registered: Mar 2006 posted 03-13-2009 06:01 PM                     When Mann theatres converted the Fox Twin in Lubbock to the Fox 4, and installed 2 sets of Ballentyne Pro 35s, the booth was running on 1000 watt Orcons that resembled what The Rex Allen theatre has. They later replaced these with 2000 watt pedestal-based lamps, the make of which I cannot recall... The rest of us tried to sell a large enough system, but ORC, complete with misleading model numbers, got the sales. Most sales bozos don't care about the outcome; they proudly "got the sale." MANN Theatres, in those days of the late 70's to early 80's were BIG with ORC's at the time. Most all of the MANN booths in UTAH and in Colorado had ORC consoles along with either these PRO's or the Cine-V5's hanging on the front. They just finishing up using XeTRON lamphouses and consoles and went with this set of manufacturers. Platters were the LP-270's. I wouldn't be surprised, down there in SLC, that the RC 5400s Redwood Rd 6plex still have those ORC consoles-I can see those "Indian Centurys" being gone though. -Monte  |  IP: Logged
