I've looked around and can't see it. I'm asking b/c we're a changeover house that has the capability to use 6k reels. We play ALL kinds/conditions of films. Films so red and vinegary, with tape that melts once out of the can, brittle, etc. We are trying to learn to be the best damn little volunteer organization in town. I usually prohibit using the 6k reels b/c we have 5/16" spindles. It's fairly clear the strain a 6k reel puts on the spindles, and the cost to replace all our 2k reels would be prohibitive. Which brings me to another question: We have a Kelmar 8500 rewind bench and I assume I could switch out the 5/16" spindles for the 1/2" ones, but I'm assuming I can't do this with our Kelmar 7000 Film Guidance Arms. Yes you can get the 1/2" spindles for the rewind table, and I am pretty sure you can replace the spindles with 1/2" as well. (The part number for the entire arm in 1/2" is RSA-7000-1 (for spindle arms only, it's PGS-7000-1 for spindle arms with platter guidance). KELMAR Contact Kelmar or your theatre dealer for the part numbers and prices for the spindles only.  |  IP: Logged John Wilson Film God Posts: 5438 From: Sydney, Australia. Registered: Dec 1999 posted 12-05-2010 01:57 PM                     Hi Ottilie This has been mentioned before, but there's nothing to stop anyone using a 6K reel on a 5/16 spindle. I worked in venues that used that system for over 20 years with no problem.
