You only seem to be having issues in the US region. In Europe DTS is swift in service and response. Matt keep up the happy faces. Are you happy with the XD10P units? I have installed only one at a college some years ago but I was very happy. Much better than a CP45.

I would absolutely check with DTS on the firmware version to see if there any known problems or bugs. With the reliability I've had on the JDS-80's I think this is very odd. Don't let the excitement of repairing the nuit overtake the possibility that all your units may be infected!! I've never had to upgrade any JSD-80 firmware ever. Now Dolby is famous for putting out firmware with bugs and problems... And your problem which I would classify as somewhat uncharacteristic of this processor leads me to believe it is something along these lines.
