Posts: 12814 From: Annapolis, MD Registered: Dec 1999 posted 01-09-2010 10:39 AM                     I just checked...I don't think I have picture of just the blank screen. But they should look like a permanent screen when down. Here is a picture of a Stewart though much of the screen is obstructed by the Balcony. (State Theatre, State College, PA) Here is a close up of the screen in that picture: I, personally, find the theatre charming in its own right. I love the color scheme there and despite it being a multi-purpose venue (hence the roll-down screen since they also don't have a fly gallery), the film presentations are pretty top notch. Nice looking theatre, Steve. I guess I will have to do that with a DLP projector like they did and put a dark screen up with the credits rolling by. But that irritates me because my argument is this: There is not much new in our old theater except the screen and we paid over $4k for it. We expected a top notch looking screen. One can see the wrinkles in the screen while the house lights are up. On first glance you would think that we hung bedsheets up because we were too poor to go out and buy a cinema screen! Price comparable DaLite or draper screens look as nice as in Steve's photos but his surface is as good as it gets... No problems other than one got damaged during shipping due to not-so-good "packing". They sent the replacement parts quickly, insurance paid for the damage, all good. No side tensioning wires in that model, but didn't sagg either. My only experience with Hurley comes from unsuccesfull biddings and tests with their samples, AFAIR.  |  IP: Logged
