Monte,

All of my customers and my customers repair people are taught to carefully inspect all new xenon lamps before they are installed... and this procedure includes carefully rotating the lamp to check for concentricity and electriode alignment. It should be part of any normal lamp replacement-installation procedure. Your lamp should have been rejected and have never been installed.

I've had zero problems with LTI digital lamps... XDC series. I think you'll see Phillips initiate decent quality control in the long run.
