I only gripe about the lack of spare gate parts when the consequences are so dire, as in destroyed framing bushings. Overtightening the gates bands on other projecors do not prematurely wear out critical projector parts as they do in Kinoton and this part seems to be in every projector since the FP20. This was one reason they did not sell well anywhere on this side of the world where we seem to like our projectors tank-like and crude. Posts: 12814 From: Annapolis, MD Registered: Dec 1999 posted 03-27-2012 07:35 PM                     I bring up the tension band thing on Simplexes...especially once the PR1060 and beyond came out since the film path had them wear rather fast (depending on threading) to the point they would just break! As to Scott...that was sort of my point...it was an eclectic set of spare parts...two ceramic discs for 35mm...which I've yet to have to replace...runner strips...which one gets to wear them twice (flop them to wear the other side)...but the common wear item, the skate...nothing doing...that you have to spring for yourself. On the 16mm side...ceramic discs can crack due to how small and fragile they are...especially on the fixed side. As to skates...any good Kinoton dealer stocks them (we still do). I don't have them be a significant wear item...really. The art galleries tend to wear them the fastest...they dimple up. My mainstream theatres will get thousands of hours out of them...really. As to the design of the skates...the E-skate is different and uses the spring to help hold it in place...not the much larger intermittent sprocket. "D" skates never had the spring. Different dynamics. Note, on the "D" projectors, there is supposed to be a rubber bumper to stop the skate arm from opening too far. There is also an eccentric stop that some use. My return is only temporary Sam...like so many others...I'm out doing the DCinema conversion thing.  |  IP: Logged
