So 16:9 tvs are much more commonplace in homes here. They dont even release fullscreen versions of films here on dvd. It stops the confusion for the masses and plus they all see the films in their OAR. That doesnt mean people dont watch films and TV in ZOOM mode, MELON HEAD mode or something else that is wrong. Back to subject. The Indy trilogy will be a treasure to behold, unless Lucas ruins them by adding unwanted new crap into these classics. Take Care all. That's why I have to sit through flattened and stretched TV programs at my friend's house because: "I paid $X for this TV so it should fill the screen!" Besides, if we allowed directors and producers of film and television shows to ONLY broadcast or release them in their true, intended ratio, then the consumerist public wouldn't have the FREEDOM to crop, stretch, flip, invert, or otherwise mangle their work to our satisfaction. [SARCASM off] Back to Indy: It's about time! I remember seeing a less-than-ample presentation of the trilogy via some beaten-up prints at a multiplex that was doing a screening. Cool, but the damage interfered with the movie in some places. It was the first time I ever saw all 3 in their entirity. I just hope there's no framing issues like with BTTF. IMHO, they should release the widescreen editions as normal, but to get the P&S (POS?) versions, one should have to buy the superdeluxultramegamega edition which would include the trilogy in widescreen, a book, film frames, making-of, and other junk to jack up the price, AND a disc with the trilogy in fullscreen. Maybe I should put a Graemlin here: That reminds me of two Russian filmmakers who showed up at the Berlin Film Festival and insisted that their movie (optical mono/1:1,66) should be played in CinemaScope and Dolby Digital. I don't like the idea of having a random movie floating around separately from the others in a box set. I'm seriously considering not buying the box set until the fourth one is made and released on DVD as part of a 4-film box set. And what's the point of declaring something a "trilogy" only to go ahead and add a fourth part? I look forward to purchasing the region 1 set as the region 2, 4% PAL speed up irritates me and mostly ruins epic sweeping musical passages more than anything else. It has been a while since I have seen Raiders on the big screen and at least a couple of years since I have seen it on TV. That being said, does anyone else think that the picture dosn't look quite right on the new boxed set? I bought the widescreen version but the picture looks really narrow (similar to running a scope movie in flat, but just not as bad). Or is it suppose to look this (an artistic thing or something)? Also I may be wrong but one of Indy's lines seems to have been changed. Near the beginning of the movie when Indy and Brody are meeting with the two men from Washington and they are looking at the drawing of the Ark, the men ask Indy about the rays of light that are coming from the Ark. In this version, Indy says that it is lightning, fire, the power of God "or something". Now correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I remember him saying... lightning, fire, the power of God "if you believe in that sort of thing". Am I right or wrong about this (maybe I am thinking of a line from Crusade or something)? If I am right does anyone know if it was edited or was it just a different take of the same scene? It is hard to tell because his back is to the camera and he is walking away when he delivers the line.  |  IP: Logged
