I don't know what you guys are talking about, our Blockbuster has been doing this for 6 months now. They raised there prices by about a $1 and if the game or movie is late they charge you 6 bucks. If you wait 30+ then you just bought yourself that movie or game. I just talked to my mom and she lives out in Arizona and she said that she just loves Blockbuster now cause of the no late fee's. I will stick to Family Video for my rentals, I know everyone that works there so theres never a late fee for me.

later all,

Kurt

When the grace period is over, customers will go from renters to buyers. On the seventh day, the company will automatically charge the person's credit card or membership account for the cost of the movie minus the rental fee, which is $2.99 for DVDs and $6.99 for games at Ciaciuch's store.

The cost of becoming the owner of a Blockbuster product will depend on whether it is a movie or game and whether it is still in print. In most cases, customers will pay the price for previously viewed materials — $10-$17 for DVDs and $10-$13 for videos — and not the retail price, Ciaciuch said.

Anyone who doesn't want to own the movie will have a 30-day period from the point of sale to return it and have their account credited minus a $1.25 restocking fee.

Wow, who would've thought that Blockbuster would've ever gotten to the point of a 29 day rental for only $4.24!

the last time i rented from blockbuster was 3 years ago. i returned 2 PS2 games a day late, a week later i got a card from blockbuster saying i never returned the games just the empty cases. they said i would have to pay for the games, i don't remember what the cost was.

i threw away the card and a few days later they sent another card saying it was just late fee. how can you accuse a customer of stealing the games, then a week later, say we found them and you owe us money. screw them

what pisses me off is they accused me of stealing the games and now they want me pay for them, now they say i owe them late fees [uhoh] , WTF

the funny thing now is, i'm a sign installer for Anchor Sign Company, they have the accounts for blockbuster, starbucks and quizno's. we install every blockbuster sign in america and every sign is made in charleston,sc.

Although somewhat unrelated to the no late fee issue...

Industry insiders have unofficially stated that its unlikely that Blockbuster (as it exists presently in retail) will be around well within the next five years. The company might very well cross over to other industries though- or may merge with another company. Consider how future internet advancements might effect a company such as that. The next internet advancements will likely be tripple what current technology is capable of.
