Clark kisses Lois and suddenly she has amnesia? WTF? And the way she finds out his true identity (falling into the fire) was just cheap. edit: Though the revenge scene (going back to smack around the guy in the restaurant) was a Donner scene. That is actually really upsetting to find out. And what was with him peeling his crest off his chest and it turns into plastic wrap or something? And I don't think the other scene was really intended as a "revenge" scene but rather "teaching a guy a lesson." I lol'd during the commentary of the first restaurant scene. Donner says "Look, it's me! Somebody else got credit for that. They practically glorified smoking into a subplot. And the slapstick antics? Terrible. The Donner Cut is much better. The one jarring problem - as Mike pointed out - is the repeat resolution device from the first film. It almost feels like the S-Man will just do that anytime something bad happens. A highlight is the use of the screen test material during the Niagara Falls sequence. I thought it integrated nicely. Another nice benefit of the whole situation was that Donner - in lieu of finishing S2 - made a wonderful little film called "Inside Moves".  |  IP: Logged Ron Funderburg Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 814 From: Chickasha, Oklahoma, USA Registered: Nov 2007 posted 12-17-2008 11:23 AM                        Turning time back wasn't suppose to be the ending on the first film it was the ending of the second film in the original script Sup just saved everyone no hassle at the end of the first half and the bomb sent up in space was what set the villains free. He was let go after the first movie was released. He gave in to the pressure from the studio execs that wanted to use that ending because it was the most expensive special effect they had used and in case the movie bombed they didn't want to have the most expensive thing wait around for a movie (the sequel) few people would see. That really ruined what was until then a great movie for me to watch as a kid. I tolerated such crap when I was a kid but I have a hard time taking the Superman movies seriously now because of horrible sequences like that. I understand that one has to suspend reality when one watching such movies, but scenes like that really felt like an insult to my intelligence even back then. Oh yeah, then you had Superman 2 and the groanworthy turning human thing. The kiss thing. "Inside Moves" is being released on DVD on February 3. This is the first release for this film on the format. It's a good little drama and I recommend it. Of more interest to some here may be the fact that this ITC film was typically marketed for video distribution in a package with "Raise the Titanic".
