Both offer Internet upgrading ability and pretty quick load times depending on the disc content. My brother has the Sony model and it has so far not given him problems. My dad has the Samsung model and I have him set up for Netflix instant streaming and he has not had any problems. I got the Samsung for him this past Christmas and it was on sale for $150 at the time. Sony BDP-S360 Samsung BD-P1600  |  IP: Logged Claude S. It is a Panasonic BD35AK. My brother has a Sony BD player he had for about a year and a half and it already required two firmware upgrades in order to play new discs. I have been very fortunate because all of the BD discs both old and new still plays flawlessly on my machine and I have had no problem so far. Actually it has a number of nice Internet-related features. My friends don't want to bother with that. I think it all comes down to their hassles of getting WiFi set up properly in their home. Not much point in buying a PS3 either if you're not going to connect it to the Internet. The cost for a Netflix only device was $100 so I figured spend a little more and buy him the Samsung that he mostly uses to watch the Netflix movies and tv shows and the Blu-ray only cost $50. There were more misses on that one. The our office bought a Denon that took a right out of the box. To replace it they got a Samsung BD-P3600. Well it works for now.  |  IP: Logged
