Author Topic: Netflix changing rates Frank Angel Film God Posts: 5305 From: Brooklyn NY USA Registered: Dec 1999 posted 08-07-2011 08:54 AM                        Ya, but if your internet provider starts charging you for every second you are streaming content, I'd much rather wait a day and get my three discs and watch DVDs than seeing my cable bill jump up and down every month. Nope -- it's back to the hard stuff. I want BluRay quality when I watch movies. It's not like the prices of everything else aren't going up too. Netflix has to buy gas, pay shipping charges, compensate overpaid executives etc. just like any other company. But charging customers extra just because we are streaming from them is ridiculous. That means they'd need to add "tiers" or a "pay as you go" program. Gone would be the unlimited package deal. They might have one, but it'd be ridiculously expensive. With internet providers being douches and capping bandwidth, we'll be having physical media like Blu-rays for a long, long time. I still don't know how they do it because it can take a damn WEEK for a 1st class letter to get from one side of town to the other, but I drop a DVD in the mailbox at 3pm and as early as the next morning I get an email from Netflix saying they've got the DVD. Then the NEXT DAY, the new DVD comes in our mailbox. It never ceases to amaze me. I mean, that's practically as fast as streaming! With the 3 at once DVD plan, there is hardly ever a time when we don't have a film waiting to be screened in our place.
