That could be particularly useful in graphics and photo retouching work, especially if the monitor had a very good refresh rate and high quality control of color display. 4K in projection format, not interested. That's not true, actually. Currently the highest resolution image you're going to pull from Sony's top of the line CineAlta, the F35, is 1080p. The new Sony F65, which is has yet to be used on any production aside from test shorts (none of which have been released), will record and produce a true 4K image. The Red EPIC is the only digital camera labeling itself as 5K at the moment, but in reality only the EPIC's sensor is 5K, the image you'll actually get is somewhere between 4-4.4K after debayering. And, Sony doesn't force films being made by their studios to use they're cameras. It ended up being shot entirely with the Red One MX, which has an actual resolution of 3.7K, with the film being finished in 4K. OK, so that's three. What about the some hundred plus that have come out since the TOY STORTs? What about the 20 or 30 decent 3Ds from the 50 -- all of which were actually SHOT in REAL 3D?
