I cannot fault it!  |  IP: Logged Aaron Garman Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1470 From: Toledo, OH USA Registered: Mar 2003 posted 08-24-2012 05:30 PM                     Well, it's time for me to get a new player now but need a certain feature set: -3D is a must -Can play AVCHD from USB -Can play a list of mkv, .ts, etc. in succession from a USB drive -Can do lossless on files mentioned above -NTFS or something better than FAT32 -1080/50 would be awesome, but not a deal breaker. I like a lot of British television. I have a Sony BDP-370 now and it does almost all of that save for 3D, NTFS, and 1080/50. I just picked up a Panasonic BDT220 and while it can do 3D and NTFS, almost everything else mentioned above won't work. I'd also like to not spend more than $200, which pretty much eliminates the Oppo units sadly because they can do just about all of that save the 1080/50 from what I hear... But he has an old rear projection screen TV that doesn't have any HDMI inputs. He need a Blu-ray player with component video outputs that actually outputs 1080p HD over component video connections. I have projectors I would like to set up as well that have the component input and DVI but not HDMI. They only do 1080i though. Optima I think is the brand. Great pictures my TV is only 1080i as well but upgrading anything is not an option right now. I have to get this doctor crap worked out and have the next surgery as soon as I can. I hope your father what he needs though. Oh I heard that the manager of the Carmike in Lawton had moved away. Starting with the 2011 model year, BD players aren't (or weren't) supposed to allow 720i/p or 1080i/p signals out via component outputs - for current machines it's supposed to be HDMI only for HD pictures from now on. Older players will still have the ability to output HD via component. Or did that all change or get delayed? Many TVs of that vintage do not, just as they don't have HDMI inputs. You can play most discs without it coming up, but it would still be nice to be able to turn it off completely. One of the biggest annoyances is when switching audio or subtitles on 4x3 material, the picture will stretch out to 16x9 while the display is on. Who knows how long BluRay will be a healthy format? They took way too long to settle on BluRay just when inferior but decent enough(for the mainstream) HD streaming has come into play. I dont understand why even the Chinese are loathe to supply us with BluRay burners. It's not like they care about legalities. I find it annoying that as media quality has increased in quality, it becomes tougher for the common person to record and archive favorite recordings like we did in the VHS era.I want to see affordable easy to use HD recorders. Sure, go ahead and turn off the HD outputs for recording movie channels. But I want to archive my sports recordings in an easy manner. DVD Burners just dont cut it.  |  IP: Logged
