Editing of movies is bad. An announcement just came today in the e-mail that a PG-13 version of "King's Speech" is going to be released in which all the f-words will be blanked out. Thereby ruining some of the best scenes in the movie. I canNOT believe Tom Hooper is sitting still for this. But just a few days ago I read that the director, Tom Hooper, was dead-set against editing the movie. And, if it wins Best Picture this weekend, he'll have a stronger argument for refusing to alter the movie. But the question remains: Did this happen because Harvey Weinstein took control away from Hooper or did Hooper agree to it? Critics were already crying foul a month ago... Opinion piece declaring that if the movie is re-cut it doesn't deserve the Oscar. Then, the exhibitors will want more of that type of film, and the studios will begin to respond. (Toy Story 3 = biggest movie of 2010) The problem is when that happens, then Hollywood begins cranking out crappy movies to "cash in" with lame movies and lamer sequels -- look at all the crap animations that have come out in the last few years.  |  IP: Logged
