Hey Tim:

I to did the upgrade in moving out the non motorized spindle. I am also gettng the platter rub, so I would be interseted in the photos of your solution to this.

Ok Bob, no problem.
The pictures do most of the talking for themselves after you start with the idea that the Core Adapter Plate "attachment" goes onto the motorized side of the MUT. You will have to take it off to remove the Core Adapter part from the plate though, this just gets in the way a lot when trying to load and unload the platter.

Loading is easy with 2 people, but can just as easily be done with 1 after you do it a few times. The difficulty is lining up the holes with the pins, shorter pins would probably make this easier but we used what we had on hand.

The black thing in the picture is some of the mat stuff that you put in toolbox drawers so things don't slide around. This is to keep the platter from scratching the plate but I didn't use it the first couple of times so it isn't a requirement.

Off loading with the lift takes a bit more work. You basically lift half of it up a bit with the lift and lift the other half by hand, sliding it onto the lift. But it isn't that hard.

I think that is all, seems like it at least. Like I said, we have been using this method for the better part of a year now and it has been working great. Let me know if you have any questions.
