Your info is quite interesting. We are a Sanyo dealer and upon discovering the fact that the projector will not turn off its fan if the shut down was due to a no-signal time out, we contacted Sanyo, figuring this was a defect...only to find that this is a "feature" and that nothing could be done about it. Mind you, where this projector was installed was in a classroom setting and the fan not shutting down could easily mean that the fan would run all weekend. I plan to put your information to the test.

Most of the Sanyo projectors are similar in function though not identical...especially in how to get to the service menus. PLC XT11/16 are unto themselves as "table top" models in their button pushes. Though the look and feel of the service menus are similar thoughout the models (as are all of the normal menus) how you get to the service menus and what the groups are may be different.

Serially, they are all more alike than different. A "C00" command will turn on any Sanyo projector and similarly, a "C01" command will turn the lamp off without the power down message.

Our "semi-custom" method does not use Crestron though Crestron does have a box that can be programmed. Our method cost around $425 and can handle two projectors (and can even provide ethernet control of the projectors).

The Panasonic PT-DW7000 also has a "Shutter" function. A douser that mechanically cuts of the light. Very practical.

Our Toshiba LCD projectors are currently being replaced (as they go dead) with Toshiba DLP projectors. (model # forthcoming) They are a great improvement on the LCD's. All the ventilation on the DLP models is on the sides of the unit, which means you can put these little guys right next to port glass and not worry about decreased bulb life. Much sharper picture too. [thumbsup]

I thought of that, but that is the way it was when I started here. I think all of our theaters are wired that way, I have not heard of any projectors going down because of this.
