I agree. The one and only single post I can think of is where Tim or I guess it was actually Jim Graton who solved the Christie reverse scanner issue for him. Other than that its all been just a bunch of BS. NOw Tim may very well be a darn good technician... I won't comment nor criticise on that since I haven't worked with him. But I certainly will comment on his usless posts. Now Tristian on the other hand has made a rather large number of helpful and informative posts over the last couple of years, particuluarly in D-Cinema and Popcorn poppers. I've personally delt with Tristian and can vouch for his knowledge, honesty, and integrity. The same goes for Phil who's Iwerks systems I've delt with a number of times. When was the last time Tim even made an informative post on a new piece of gear as I have done in this thread???

You can go ahead and do new stick drawings... I'd like a 2nd T-Shirt for sure. Leave Tristian out of the brawl... well leave it up to him actually... but be sure to include Clint! I think he'd be disappointed if you left him out!!

The XD10 and P plus other products are being supported; they have asked their dealers recently for a forecast for parts and future sales.

On June 18, dts announced "production of the FilmStore Digital Cinema Player and the Film Store family has been put on hold at this time."

They will support those in service and will continue to develop and support their other products. (edited for brevity) Louis

Can you connect a Dolby 3D system on this unit? Will there be an equivalent 3D System by DTS?

At this point, a Dolby server is required for Dolby 3D.

Dell will extend the warrnaty on any server, they just charge more for it.

Supprisingly there a lot of appliance devices based on Dell servers, typically the 2950. EMC has serveral appliances, as does Google, and a lot of others.

The most common failure I've seen with the 2950s are Power Supplies, and Disk failures.

Disk failure isn't necessarily Dell's problem. With proper RAIDing, there is time to obtain a replacment without degredation.

I have one DTS Filmstore server but the HDD is broken, so it won't boot as the OS is gone. Is there anyone having that server? I would ask to make an image of boot disc, so I can buy a new hard drive and get my server boot again.I have contacted the distributor but he replied they have returned everything to Avica and have nothing left there. So finding someone who has the server and can make a copy of OS is the only chance to me for having my server working again. Thanks to anyone who cold help

Their standard life-cycle is 18 months, but Dell has an OEM program for situations like this. They will extend the life cycle of a product beyond it's standard end-of-life, something like a year or more. They also lock-down the components where their standard systems can vary. Dell will make parts (or equivalent) available for a certain number of years beyond the end-of-life. I'm sure bigger OEMs can get better terms.

A lot of companies are going this route and it seems to be working well.
