...hopefully, striking per show (and when needed, for if he has a no-show, he can keep the bulb off), since bulb warranty hours aren't the greatest and those bulbs are pricey for these units.

But, multiple strikes can also be the results of a slight loss in line current (like AC running during summer drawing ) where the ballast isn't building up the necessary no-load voltage for proper ignition from the igniter - which is working properly due to it's giving out multiple strikes before ignition.

Course, Philips bulbs aren't the greatest IMO .. I'd shoot for Ushios for these Sonys.

Second Monty on those Ushio bulbs.

Verify the AC lines into the PSU.
If you're feeling particularly wiley swap the PSU with another one if you can.
If all else fails call Paul Silkowsi.
