If you want to see a quandry of teaser topics, head to this auto hobbyist forum and you'll understand why no teaser topic are not allowed in this forum .. so confusing.

Ha. Just about every forum I visit is laced with teaser topics, and I cringe every time I see them. I always think, "Man, why can't they have just a few simple rules like FT to keep things neat and orderly?" Monte, the list of topics that is currently on the first page of that forum seems to have far less useless thread titles than I've seen before.

Incidentally, this is the first forum I ever visited, the first I joined, and the forum by which I judge all other forums. [Big Grin]

Can I make one point: I understand the need to follow the forum rules and how "teaser" subjects can make it more difficult to get the right person to answer the question. But, for a forum dedicated to quality projection, I find it troubling that so much effort went into telling this person how he was violating the forum rules, while virtually no effort was spent on helping him determine what was wrong.

Well he found out the problem and put up the solution by afternoon of the next day, but I agree more questions should have been asked while the teaser-topic thing was being addressed.

Justin, he got two answers to his question, then Brad reminded him of the rules, he then got ANOTHER answer, then he told us the problem was found, then he wanted to delete himself from the forum. The rest of the thread was us trying to calm him down and invite him to stay onboard, and interjected some humor in the process.

If you really felt he wasn't getting adequate answers, why didn't you give him some help?

Really, sometimes I get the impression you come on here just to bitch about things rather than offer constructive advice. And before you get mad at me I will say I do agree with you in that sometimes we (and that includes me) jump on the "moderator" bandwagon a bit quickly.

But that is why this forum works so well compared to others..I can steer you to a few that will show what can happen when the rules aren't enforced as well as they are here. [Eek!]

The fact he broke a core rule of the forum meant he had not bothered to read the rules. By telling him what rule he broke, he then wouldn't bother to read the rest of them.

IMO, nothing more needed to be done. He posted a teaser topic late at night, by the morning read the advice to call his tech, did so, and got the issue resolved.

All done before the teaser topic yelling really blew up.

Steve: I'm sure he was also banned from touching any sound racks after that incident too.
Kurt: I agree and I miss Phil too. He loved to "pull my chain" and get me wound up over the littlest things..
Brad: Like I said, sometimes I get the impression that Justin just comes on here to bitch rather than try to help. And as others have said I like how the rules are enforced here, it allows spirited discussions and easy topic searches, unlike so many others.
