Exactly the above. I know recently I saw a concert at a local theater that's for a blu ray that's upcoming in a few weeks. It was truly obvious that they used a final compressed master used for the blu ray itself. Blown to the big screen, every dark section looked awful.

Granted, it could've been that it was shot for 1080p but it looked worse than the 1080p-sourced movies I recall.
