"Jurassic Park III" was released in 2001 in ten D-Cinema presentations in North America. The only thing noteworthy about it was it was Universal's first D-Cinema release.

1993 was the release year for the original Jurassic Park movie. There was no such thing as DLP projectors or 1.2k back then.

The whole digital cinema thing started around or slightly before the Millenium.

Right. I got my dates mixed up. And I didn't realize it was such a limited DCinema release.

Other than it was the first time lots of us saw our first commercial example of DCinema in a movie theatre (not at a trade show demo) and we sat there, or at least I did, mouths opened, aghast. And believe me, there haven't been many times in my life when I've be "aghast" or would even use that word. But it certainly was notable for me in that it set my mind squarely against digital at the time, if that was what it was going to look like on movie screens. It made me think those who said it looked "as good as film" were, at best, been fed some sort of horse tranquilizes that TI had slipped into the punch at the demos, or they were just low-life scum con artists who had an economic interest in selling what would eventually become useless digital door stops. Even people whose opinions I usually respected, seemed to have gone blind and would wind up spewing that "it's good enough" kool-aid line. It was like all of a sudden I was living in some cinema tech's version of the INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS movie.

Was JPIII released before or after STAR WARS: THE DIGITAL MENACE?

Star Wars EPI: The Digital Menace was released in '99. Jurassic Park III: The Dinosaurs Are Fake was in 2001.
