Which is what I prefer. Basically, MakeMKV only grabs from the disc what's there and wraps it into common MKV containers, it's a 1:1 conversion, no processing at all. I understand there is a way to attach FFMPEG or libav as a post-processor for transcoding, but I don't know how to do it and never needed it. I try to avoid any frame-rate conversion anyway, with the exception of the occasional 24->25->24 upspeed or slowdown if absolutely necessary. I also like the option to include/exclude normal and forced subtitles. The resulting MLVs integrate nicely with DCP-o-matic, you can choose from multiple audio or subtitle tracks within DCP-o-matic, if DCP conversion is needed. We've had some interesting problems with it such as digital feedback in the greys/blacks. We've recently started using Adobe Wraptor Pro to make our DCPs. Quick'n dirty conversion can be done right in DCP-o-matic. 24/25 conversion is trivial, however, if you mean 30/29,97 to 24fps, there is no easy way to do this with progressive material, and good converters do cost quite some money. One would think the DSP100 may have different hardware decoders for both.
