The black grid actually slightly improves the perceived contrast and the comparative lack of that grid on the 4K chips is some of the blame for lowering perceived contrast. As for the Alexa... They did not make a larger single chip,. The stacked three of the present Alexa chips side by side to approximate the 65mm frame width. The irony here is that the moire issue would be a nonissue if lens technology had not advanced to the point where the pixel grid is geometrically correct (or very close to it) when it hits the screen. Perhaps someone should start selling "high distortion lenses" as a cure for moire issues....  |  IP: Logged
