I would open up the top compartment above the keypad. There is a connector there from the button module to the signal backplane also a ribbon cable from the keypad to the button module. I would reseat that along with the cable to the button module and also where it connects to the signal backplane. It seems that all buttons would go out at once.

Try reseating the cables. Do any macro buttons work? I have 2 from a DP2000 that still have at least 1 functioning macro. I don't know if they are compatible withe the new machines.

Is this a single or do you have multiple Barco series 2 projectors? If it is a multiple, I have a potential temporary fix.

I'd first try unplugging and replugging the control panel at both ends of the cable to ensure it isn't something silly like that.

Are these 'dumb' keypads with a matrix-style wiring, or do they carry a controller talking some protocol to the cinema controller?

A dump matrix connected keypad could be emulated easily by connecting 'some' switches to the wiring. Not much to lose if the original keypad is actually 'broken'.

Jason, thanks for your reply. We have the Dolby IMS2000. If there is a way to clear the tamper error from the IMB, please let me know! In response to the other folks who have replied, I have re-seated both the ribbon cable from the button module to its control board as well as the multi-wire connector that connects to the backplane; no luck on either attempt. We do have a dual set of -23B's, but I am reluctant to remove the working button module on our functioning machine as it will then cause a tamper event on that machine and if this good panel then fails, I will be totally out of business! As far as the touch panel goes, none of the buttons function. Both machines
were new in the early part of 2012. Thanks to all who have responded. Finally, is there no one in this country that has stock on this panel?

It isn't something that fails very often that one would keep stock on it.

So here is what you can do that will allow one button panel to work for both projectors and get you going. Barco wires the tamper switches such that the switch has to activate the tamper. As such, if you unplug the tamper switch connectors, it will be blind to the tamper switches. The tamper switches are below the fan in the "C" series projectors on the signal backplane and below the cable bundle in the "B" series projectors (same row of connectors as the button control module) so you merely need to unplug those 2-wire color coded cables. Clear the tamper the one time (you'll set it off the first time to get into that compartment), then move the button module to the other projector and do likewise. You'll then have two working projectors until the button module arrives.

I haven't used the IMS2000 and am therefore unfamiliar with where in its UI an option might exist to remarry and/or close the service door. Each manufacturer puts the option in a different place.

If one had traditional HDSDI inputs and an enigma, the tamper could be cleared via Communicator at Configuration > Diagnostics > Actual > Link decryptor status > End service door tamper.

Steve's suggested workaround will get you back on screen but perhaps someone with more knowledge of the IMS2000 will be able to chime in on where in its UI the option exists to remarry or clear a tamper for future reference.

Steve, THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Your suggestion worked! To clarify, there are 4 tamper switches plugged into the backplane: S1, S2, S3 and S4. When I unplugged these I was NOT able to clear the tamper error with my laptop which was connected through the IP port on the projector... however when I went to the Barco auxiliary touch screen I was able to clear the tamper event!!
Bottom line is: you must use a Barco touch panel to clear a tamper event when the machine's built in touch control panel is totally out of service as mine was!! Thanks to all of the Great Film-Tech folks, world wide, you all are the very best!

Fred,

Where on the touchpanel did you clear the event? I'm 90% certain that you cannot use the format buttons on the touchpanel as you would on the actual side panel. It will just start selecting each format. Now you have ME curious.

Steve, I used the 'clear tamper event' button on the touch screen, not on the projector! For what ever reason, the same button on my laptop did not clear the event. It did not require the 'dallas' key and 8 digit code sequence, just 'clear tamper event' under diagnostics/link decryptor status.

Very interesting. Since it is a DCI requirement to have a physical presence, I could see why they would allow the touchpanel to clear the event but not the computer interface that may be somewhere other than the theatre.
