Author Topic: Dolby DFC100 Servo Lock Problem Leo Enticknap Film God Posts: 7474 From: Loma Linda, CA Registered: Jul 2000 posted 12-09-2016 01:29 PM                        I have very occasionally had the symptoms Neil describes with my NC3240S/DFC100/cat745/DSS200-3 combo. It's as if there is a timeout for the DFC100 to get a 3-D sync signal from the server, without which it throws an error and stays there. The workaround I discovered through trial and error is to start playback, then hit pause as soon as the server is playing in 3-D mode, then engage the filter wheel: three green lights will then follow, and you can unpause it. Inserting a five-second 3-D black DCP at the start of the show playlist will avoid chopping any opening logos or titles, and so I generally put this in all 3-D shows just in case. It only does this once in a blue moon, though. Most of the time if a 3-D DCP is selected for playback and a 3-D preset is selected on the projector, the DFC100 will engage without complaining.  |  IP: Logged Marco Giustini Film God Posts: 2713 From: Reading, UK Registered: Nov 2007 posted 12-09-2016 03:37 PM                     being a Dolby Server with a Dolby DFC, you can use Ethernet cues to do that.  |  IP: Logged Mark Gulbrandsen Resident Trollmaster Posts: 16657 From: Music City Registered: Jun 99 posted 12-16-2016 08:22 PM                     There appears to be something odd going on with these DFC's as I now have two that have stopped working properly. One causes the server to throw a "Dolby Filter Controller Is Locked" warning even though this site has always operated this unit manually. It was used for a run just two weeks ago and worked perfectly. Another unit's lights just flash at you then turn red no matter what you are doing, or try to get it to do. I never heard of these units dying, but both are now over 6 years old, so anything is possible. Mark  |  IP: Logged
